COVID-19: More areas placed under containment in Shillong

UT News Service | Shillong, Aug 27: The detection of COVID-19 cases or high risk contacts has prompted the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills to designate a number areas in the district as containment zones.

These include identified houses, buildings and compounds at Riat Laban East in Madan Laban, Pynthorumkhrah- Golflink and Mawkhar Main Road in Shillong.

The house occupied by Sanjita Das and U. Deb in the compound of I. Kharmudai at Riat Laban East in Madan Laban, Nevelda Nongrum building and Ram Niwas compound at Pynthorumkhrah-Golflink and the compound of B. Dohling at Mawkhar Main Road as containment areas with immediate effect, as stated in the order issued by Nongbri.

The order states that no person is allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the containment area shall not move out, besides all inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their home.

However, the order will not apply to health workers and essential workers of Shillong Municipal Board, press including electronic and print media, petrol pumps and LPG delivery workforce and any violation of the order will entail prosecution under the penal provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and I.P.C.

Meanwhile, Nongbri has lifted the containment tag on the house of B. Marbaniang at Riat Laban East in Madan Laban and the cottage of Swarnalata Kutir (House no. 312, C/O Kanai Lal Dey), Near Nepali UP School at Mynsain in Lower Lumparing, with immediate effect.
