Meghalaya on Friday recorded the recoveries of 87 COVID-19 patients, outnumbering the new positive cases on the day which were logged at 70.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the new cases of COVID-19 include 31 from East Khasi Hills district, 19 Ri Bhoi district, 6 East Garo Hills district, 6 West Garo Hills district, 3 South Garo Hills district, 2 East Jaintia Hills district, 2 South West Garo Hills district and 1 West Jaintia Hills district.
Of these, he said 17 are police personnel which includes 16 from Ri Bhoi and 1 from South West Garo Hills.
Dr War said that 87 persons who recovered from the infection include 44 from East Khasi Hills, 18 West Jaintia Hills, 10 East Jaintia Hills, 8 West Garo Hills, 3 East Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 1 Ri Bhoi and 1 West Khasi Hills.
Till date, the state has detected a total of 10,581 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,028 are active cases, 9,455 recovered while 98 people have succumbed to the virus.
Of the total active cases, Ri Bhoi has 324 positive cases, East Khasi Hills has 270 that include 4 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 266 civilians, West Garo Hills 114, East Garo Hills 104, West Jaintia Hills 64, East Jaintia Hills 56, South Garo Hills 31, West Khasi Hills 29, South West Garo Hills 25, North Garo Hills 10 and South West Khasi Hills 1.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,18,315 persons have been tested of which 2,07,734 were found negative,” he said while adding that there are 58,328 entrants from outside the state.
