Covid deaths in Ukhrul: With one more fatality, total death hits double digit

One succumbed to COVID-19 in Ukhrul district on Wednesday while seven persons tested positive taking the total death case to ten and active cases to 115.

The deceased, identified as one Thotreitha Hongray, 40-year-old, succumbed to Covid at his native village Shirui on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Additional deputy commissioner Ukhrul, David Kashungnao granted permission to the family of the deceased to bury the mortal remains at his village with strict observations of SOP.

The residence declared containment zone with immediate effect are the residence of late Thotreitha Hongray H/o Rintharwon Lungleng of Shirui village; Khamung Mashangva H/o Shakuntala of Khamphasom tang Ukhrul; Phungton Shaiza H/o Juliet Shaiza of Viewland Zone-II; Chonthing AS W/o late Roshityar AS of Viewland Zone-I.

Two residences have been revoked from the containment zone. They are the residence of Vareiyar Kasar of Alungtang Ukhrul and Philapam Kasar of Khamphasom tang Ukhrul.

As part of the precautionary and preventive measures, the district magistrate Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamson, IAS, has advised people who have come in contact with late Thotreitha Hongray of Shirui village for strict isolation and informed the medical department for necessary action.

The DM Ukhrul in exercise of the power conferred upon him under Para 12 of “The Manipur Epidemic Diseases”, COVID-19 Regulations 2020 had also sealed, barred entry and exit of population from the above containment scheduled and directed to initiate active surveillance of the cases, and added that any person, organization and institution found violating any of the above measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, stated the order issued by district magistrate today.

Informing that Covid vaccination for 18-44 years age group people will be open everyday till Saturday at Old district hospital, Khamphasom tang Ukhrul, the district surveillance officer Ukhrul said that anyone can book anytime and come for vaccination.
