Kakching police seize 661g of Heroine powder

Imphal: As part of War on Drugs 2.0, today at around 1pm, 661 gram of suspected Heroin powder was detected and seized by teams of Kakching Police.

The said product was caught from one Maruti Gypsy vehicle bearing no registration number, coming from Pallel side at the Leimanai Chingjin CDO check-post. The detection and seizure was headed by HC Starson Tarao and assisted by HC L Rohit Singh, under the command of Inspector Md Abash Khan, OC, CDO Unit, Kakching, under the supervision of Shri Binoy Chongtham, MPS Addl SP (Ops) Kakching, and under the overall Supervision of Shri Shrey Vats, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Kakching, police said.

The driver and the other occupant of the vehicle were detained for verification. They were identified as (1) Lunkhojang Touthang, 40 yrs, s/o Jamkhoson Touthang of T V Gamnomphai Village, Tengnoupal A/P T Monglen Village, Chandel and (2) Thangjamang Touthang ,34 yrs, s/o Jamkholen Touthang of Moltuk Village, Chandel, according to police.

The two persons along with the said vehicle were searched after observing legal formalities. From the vehicle, 50 (Fifty) soap cases containing suspected Heroin (No.4) powder were detected concealed in a specially designed chamber below the chassis of the vehicle. The driver and its occupant were arrested thereafter. On weighing, the suspected Heroin (No.4) powder was found to weigh approximately 661 grams (in total).

The arrested persons along with the seized articles are handed over to OC, Kakching Police Station for taking up further necessary legal action, police said.
