NNN | IMPHAL, July 17: Curiosity has heightened in Manipur after four BJP ministers left for New Delhi on Friday. The four cabinet ministers of the ruling BJP in Manipur reportedly met the Governor before leaving Imphal for New Delhi.
Speculations about the leadership issue in Manipur politics are doing the round after the four cabinet ministers left the state capital for New Delhi.
However, the ministers told reporters at the airport before their departure that they are going to meet national leaders to discuss issues related to fund shortage being faced by departments they are looking after and to strengthen the present government.
The ministers who left for Delhi are Works minister Th Biswajit, Education minister Th Radheshyam, Social Welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen and Agriculture minister V Hangkhanlian.
Radheshyam said that they are going to press the central leaders of the BJP to sanction more funds for taking various Central sponsored developmental projects and schemes.
During the visit, he added, they will also meet with national leaders of the party and discuss to strengthen the party and the government in the state.
Reacting to media reports about lobbying the national party on the leadership issue, the Education minister said that there was no such revolt within the party. “Our visit has nothing to do with the leadership issue but to strengthen the government,” he added.
Agriculture minister V Hangkhanlian also said that, in Delhi they will brief the prevailing situation to the party national leaders but it will not be related with the leadership issue.
He added that they will meet Union ministers of ministries concerning their departments and press them to sanction required funds for taking up developmental works in the state.
