SENAPATI: In a significant move aimed at improving access to competitive examinations for local aspirants, the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati has formally requested the Regional Director of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), North Eastern Region, to establish an SSC Examination Centre in Senapati District.

In a communication addressed to the Regional Director, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the difficulties faced by a large number of students and job aspirants from the district who regularly appear for national and state-level competitive examinations conducted by the SSC. At present, candidates are required to travel long distances to examination centres located outside the district, resulting in considerable financial burden, logistical challenges and safety concerns, particularly for those residing in remote and rural areas.

The letter noted that such challenges often discourage deserving candidates from appearing for examinations and may adversely affect their performance. Emphasizing the need for greater accessibility and inclusiveness, the Deputy Commissioner urged the Commission to consider Senapati as a venue for future SSC examinations.

To facilitate the proposal, the District Administration has offered the use of the District Information Technology (IT) Examination Centre, NIELIT, along with other suitable infrastructure available within the district. According to the communication, these facilities are equipped with the necessary infrastructure and can be made available in accordance with the standards and requirements prescribed by the SSC.

The District Administration has also assured its full cooperation and support for the smooth conduct of examinations, including coordination with relevant departments and local authorities whenever required.

The Deputy Commissioner further requested the SSC to undertake an assessment of the available facilities and initiate the process for empanelment of examination infrastructure in the district. The move is expected to greatly benefit students and job seekers by reducing travel-related hardships and ensuring easier access to employment opportunities.
