UT News Service | 10 July: Government of Nagaland asks its employees to declare if they have any family member in rebel groups. As per letter dated July 7, Nagaland State Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy directed all the Administrative Heads of Departments and all the Heads of Departments to obtain information and self declare if they have any family members or relatives in Underground Organizations with deadline set at August 7.

This sudden move by the Nagaland Government comes after the governor RN Ravi on June 16 wrote a letter to the state Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Government of Nagaland expressing collapse of law and order in the state with rampant extortion by “armed gang” who are running parallel government sparking political debate.

In the recently held Morung dialogue of the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights, (NPMHR), Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichü spoke on the after-effects of the Governor’s letter.
