District Level Launching program of Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine ( PCV) was held Monday at NHM Conference Hall, CMO Office Complex, Tamenglong. The vaccination program was launched by Kajaigai Gangmei, ADM Tamenglong. The program was graced by Dr Guidiathiu DTO Tamenglong and Lunepou CMO ADC Tamenglong as Guest of Honour and
Dr G. Majachunglu, CMO Tamenglong as Function President. During the launching program organised by District Health Society Tamenglong, 4 infants were given first dose of the vaccine.
In the sideline of the program, Dr Sunil Kamei, DIO Tamenglong said that over 1.2 million children below age of 5 years die every year globally. Out of which 16% die due to pneumonia. And in order to prevent this disease from infants, vaccination drive such as this one is being carried out, he said. He also said, 3 doses will be given to complete full dosage. While citing it’ll be available in Primary Health Centres and Primary Health Sub Centres Centres, outreach program will be conducted to give maximum benefits, he said.
Similar program was also conducted at Noney Primary Health Centre. It was graced by Robert Singh Kshetrimayum, Deputy Commissioner, Noney as Chief Guest, Dr. Azin Maringmei, District Leprosy Officer, Noney, Dr. Thaimei Gairanlung, District Malaria Officer, Noney and Dr. Jendum Golmei, District Immunisation Officer, Noney as the Guests of Honour and Function President respectively. It was organised by District Health Society, Noney.
