Drug peddler arrested in Tengnoupal with 376 grams of Narcotic

A team of Tengnoupal district police commando led by ASI W. Ronny Singh, under the command of Th. Krishnatomb Singh, MPS, Addl SP (Ops) and under the supervision of Th. Vikamjit Sing, MPS has apprehended a drug peddler and recover large quantities of narcotic drugs on Monday.

According to police report the apprehended person is identified as Paokhongam, alias Paongam Haokip (48), S/o (L) Paokholet Haokip of Moreh W/No. VIII Ngamkhai Veng, Moreh Tengnoupal District Manipur, presently staying at Tuibong Laizon Veng, Churachandpur. He was arrested with 376 grams of narcotic drugs at around 5:40 PM of June 14 near Loisi village.

Speaking to Media persons, SP Tengnoupal, Th Vikramjit said that, police and commando were deployed at strategic points along Imphal – Moreh road after receiving an input about transportation of narcotic drugs along the route. Around 04:30 PM the police team near Loisi village came across a dark grey colour Maruti Ecco van bearing registration No. MNO2C-0354, coming from Moreh towards Imphal in a suspicious manner. The police stopped the said vehicle for checking. On thorough search of the vehicle at the spot the police team recovered 29 numbers of soap cases containing suspected brown sugar and 1 soap case containing suspected heroin powder. The total weight of the recovered drugs is 376 grams. The arrested person and the seized articles has been handed over to Officer-in-Charge of Tengnoupal PS for further necessary legal action.
