Agartala, Mar 23: A night of drunken revelry among police personnel took a brutal turn in Tripura’s Khowai District Police Line on Friday when an inebriated Sub-Inspector (SI) allegedly assaulted a Special Police Officer (SPO) by kicking him in his private parts, leaving him in critical condition at Khowai District Hospital.

The victim SPO jawan has been identified as Bhola Sukla Das who was reportedly attacked by SI Ramkrishna Das during a late-night drinking party inside the police line at Ganki. According to sources, the SI started abusing the SPO before physically assaulting him. Following the attack, the injured SPO was rushed to Khowai District Hospital, where his condition remains precarious.

Meanwhile, local reporters rushed to the scene after learning about the incident but the accused police personnel allegedly hid SI Ramkrishna Das in a secret location to prevent media interaction.

Locals emphasized that this is not the first time SI Ramkrishna Das has been accused of misconduct. Previously, when he was posted at Teliamura Police Station in the Khowai district, he had allegedly assaulted an SPO posted at Khowai Police Station, leading to his suspension. Later, he was transferred to Teliamura, where he was again accused of various illegal activities. As a result, the former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Khowai Ramesh Kumar Yadav had closed him to the police line.

Apart from this incident, allegations of corruption and unethical activities have been mounting against Reserve Inspector (RI) Jamuna Debbarma and Head Constable Chitta Ranjan Debbarma of Khowai District Police Line. Sources claim that they were involved in multiple scams during the tenure of the previous Superintendent of Police.

It has also come to light that a group of officers including the RI, Head Constable, and SI Ramkrishna Das, regularly held “wine parties” inside the police line at Ganki. This culture of impunity, sources say, has led to anarchy within the police ranks in Khowai.
