MON: The Eastern Konyak Union (EKU), Myanmar paid a solidarity visit to the Konyak Union at its Head Office in Mon, Nagaland, on 28 July 2026. The EKU delegation comprised Mr. P. M. Aman, President; Mr. K. Akham Honwang, General Secretary; Mr. Ashah V. Anok, Finance Secretary; and Mr. R. Manjai, Member of the Advisory Board.
During the visit, the delegation expressed its condolences to the people of Mon District, particularly the families who lost their loved ones and those affected by the recent landslide. The EKU conveyed that the Eastern Konyak community in Myanmar stands with the people of Mon and shares their grief during this difficult time.

As a gesture of solidarity, the Eastern Konyak Union made a financial contribution to the Catastrophe Relief Fund established for those affected by the landslide. Although modest, the contribution reflects the EKU’s commitment to supporting fellow Konyaks in times of need.
The Eastern Konyak Union observed that the visit reflects the long-standing people-to-people ties between communities living along the India-Myanmar border. The Union expressed hope that such humanitarian initiatives would further strengthen friendship, mutual understanding and goodwill between the peoples of the two neighbouring countries, while promoting peace, cooperation, development and humanitarian values in the border region. The Union also reaffirmed its commitment to fostering harmony, goodwill and constructive engagement among border communities.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. P. M. Aman, President of the Eastern Konyak Union, said:
“The recent landslide in Mon has caused immense grief to the Eastern Konyak community in Myanmar. On behalf of the Eastern Konyak Union, I extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved families and express our solidarity with everyone affected by this tragedy.
Our contribution to the Catastrophe Relief Fund is a humble gesture of support for our brothers and sisters in Mon. Although the India-Myanmar border separates us geographically, it has never diminished the bonds of kinship, culture and friendship shared by the Konyak people. We believe that compassion and humanitarian cooperation bring communities closer and strengthen the long-standing people-to-people ties between India and Myanmar.
We deeply value the friendship between India and Myanmar and hope that such humanitarian initiatives will continue to strengthen the long-standing ties between our peoples. We believe that greater goodwill, mutual understanding, peace, development and cooperation among the border communities will contribute to a stronger and more prosperous relationship between our two neighbouring countries.
Our prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, those recovering from their injuries, and everyone engaged in the relief, recovery and rehabilitation efforts. May God grant them strength, comfort and hope during this difficult time.”
The President and Office Bearers of the Konyak Union received the delegation and thanked the Eastern Konyak Union for its support and concern for the affected families.

The two organisations also joined in prayer for the families who lost their loved ones, for the speedy recovery of the injured, and for the safety and strength of everyone involved in the relief, recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
On behalf of the Eastern Konyak Union, Mr. Ashah V. Anok, Finance Secretary, also expressed the Union’s sincere gratitude to Konyak Baptist Church, Mon, for providing accommodation and extending warm hospitality to the EKU delegation throughout its stay in Mon. The Union acknowledged the Church’s generosity and support as a reflection of the unity and fellowship shared among the Konyak people.
The Eastern Konyak Union prayed that God would continue to bless the leadership, congregation and ministry of Konyak Baptist Church, Mon, for their service, kindness and continued ministry.
