AGARTALA: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has deferred the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Tripura, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer announced, pushing the publication of the final electoral roll from 15 February 2027 to 7 April 2027 to accommodate the upcoming General Elections to Urban Local Bodies in the state.

The qualifying date for the revision stays at 1 January 2027, unchanged in the revised schedule. Every subsequent stage, however, has been reset.

The preparation, training and printing phase, earlier fixed for 27 October to 5 November 2026, will now be held from 15 to 24 December 2026. House-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers, previously scheduled between 6 November and 5 December 2026, will instead take place from 26 December 2026 to 25 January 2027. The rationalization of polling stations, earlier due by 5 December 2026, has been extended to 27 January 2027.

Meanwhile, the draft electoral roll, originally set for publication on 12 December 2026, will now be released on 1 February 2027. The window for filing claims and objections has been moved from the earlier 12 December 2026 to 10 January 2027 slot, to a new period running from 1 February to 2 March 2027. The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections, previously ending on 9 February 2027, will now continue until 1 April 2027.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, the revised timeline follows approval from the Election Commission of India in view of the forthcoming Urban Local Body elections in Tripura. Further details are available on the official CEO Tripura website.
