Shillong: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted search operations at five locations in Tura, West Garo Hills, in connection with alleged corruption in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).

The probe concerns the suspected diversion of ₹28.66 crore sanctioned for development projects in the Asanang Constituency, which were allegedly never executed.

Officials identified Boston Ch Marak, Ismail Marak, Kubon Sangma and Nikseng Sangma as key accused.

Investigators found that 60% of the funds was released to contractors Kubon and Nikseng Sangma in violation of procedures.

This marks the first major ED action in Tura related to the GHADC fund misuse case, with further investigation underway.
