Expert Committee on Meghalaya State Reservation Policy to Seek Public Input

Shillong: In a significant development, the Expert Committee on the Meghalaya State Reservation Policy has announced its decision to solicit consultations, suggestions, and comments from stakeholders regarding the State Reservation Policy. This decision was made during the committee’s second physical meeting held in the state capital of Shillong on Saturday.

According to an official statement, the committee has resolved to issue a Public Notice imminently to invite input on the State Reservation Policy.

Furthermore, it has been decided that Public Hearings will be conducted not only in Shillong but also in all other district headquarters or any other designated venue(s) as determined by the committee following feedback from stakeholders.

The committee’s next meeting is slated for May 2024, as disclosed during the proceedings. Established on September 12, 2023, the Expert Committee on the State Reservation Policy, Meghalaya, is chaired by Justice (Retd) Mool Chand Garg, alongside four esteemed members: Justice (Retd.) Dr. Satish Chandra, Prof. D.V. Kumar, Prof. Chander Shekhar, and Prof. Subhadip Mukherjee. Notably, the meeting was also attended by officials from the Personnel Department.
