Farmer Injured in Alleged Kuki Militant Attack in Bishnupur District

Imphal, June 19: Farmer sustained injuries after allegedly being attacked by armed Kuki men while working in a paddy field at Phubala Maning in Bishnupur District on Thursday afternoon. The victim, Ningthoujam Biren, a senior citizen from Phubala Awang Maning Leikai, was reportedly targeted despite the presence of security forces stationed nearby.

According to sources, Biren was working alongside other villagers in the field but stayed back to complete his work when the assault took place. He sustained injuries on his left hand and is currently receiving treatment at Bishnupur District Hospital.

The incident has sparked fresh concerns over the safety of civilians in conflict-prone zones. Local residents have expressed shock that such an attack could occur in an area guarded by security forces. Authorities have not released an official statement regarding the incident as of the time of filing this report.

The area remains tense, and the incident highlights ongoing insecurity faced by residents in vulnerable areas of Manipur.
