SENAPATI: FC Fulloh emerged champions of the Senapati 1st Division Football League after defeating Khongdei Circle FC 3-2 in the final held at the Astro Turf Ground, Senapati, on Wednesday.
The football league was organised by the District Sports Association in association with the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM), with eight teams taking part in the tournament.
Khongdei Circle FC reached the final after defeating Western Maram FC in a penalty shootout, while FC Fulloh secured their place in the title clash with a 4-1 win over Hills Academy in the semi-final.
With their respective performances, both Khongdei Circle FC and FC Fulloh have been promoted to the Super League Division, which is scheduled to be played next year.
The valedictory programme was attended by social worker Shangba David as the special guest, along with senior district Olympic officials and football fans.

In his welcome address, SDOAM Games Secretary Isaiah Chawang said the league was organised to promote unity, talent and discipline among the youth of the district.
Addressing the gathering, David said sports can bring people together and contribute to a happier and more connected society. Citing the FIFA World Cup as an example, he said football has the ability to bring people from different parts of the world together.
