Ukhrul: Former chairman of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur who retired as Director of Education (U), Manipur, PR Yangkahao son of late PR Malungring of Phungcham village, Ukhrul district, passed away on Friday at around 1:40pm at Ukhrul District Hospital.
Condolence service for late PR Yangkahao will be held at TNL Hall at 12:00 noon and his body will be laid to rest at his residence in Viewland, Ukhrul on Saturday.

PR Yangkahao was born on 05 March 1936. He passed Matric in 1957 from Ukhrul High School and completed IA from DM college in 1960. He completed his BA from Scottish Church College Calcutta in 1962 and MA (History) from Gauhati University in 1964.
PR Yangkahao was the principal of Pettigrew College, Ukhrul from 01-06-1965 to 1985. He also served as the principal of Kha Manipur College, Kakching from 01-01-1986 to 1989. He was appointed as chairman of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, from 17-10-1989 to 02-12-1991 and later as chairman, Education Commission (Task Force) Manipur from 02-12-1991 to 31-03-1993. He was also the Director of Education (U) on 28-07-1994 and retired on 28-02-2000.

PR Yangkahao was the first government college principal among the Tangkhuls. He was the first chairman of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and the first Director of Education (U) among the Tangkhuls. He was also the first MA in History subject among the Tangkhuls.
Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA) has expressed deep shock and dismay and conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved family at the sudden demise of its senior members.
