Framework Agreement Key to Lasting Peace: Th. Muivah in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, October 22: The Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah), Thuingaleng Muivah, in his first public address in Ukhrul in five decades, thanked the Tangkhul community for their steadfast prayers and expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to reunite with his people.

Reminding the Nagas in general, and the Tangkhuls in particular, of their shared history, he said, “We are not a lost people.”

Th. Muivah, the chief political negotiator with the Government of India, reiterated that the Framework Agreement signed on 3 August 2015 should remain the cornerstone in seeking an amicable solution to the long-standing Indo-Naga peace process, while appealing for continued prayers from his people.

Addressing religious leaders of the Tangkhul Naga tribe in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, he urged unity among all church associations and affiliations, describing such harmony as “the will of God.”

He concluded his message by urging everyone to uphold love and forgiveness in the collective effort of nation-building, ending with the traditional salute, “Kuknalim.”

The message of Ato Kilonser Thuingaleng Muivah was delivered by his spouse, Pakahao Muivah, in Tangkhul language on his behalf.

While reading the message, she explained that the Ato Kilonser was “fatigued from travel.”
