Governor Bhalla Leads Closing of Nation First @75 in Manipur

Imphal, October 2: The Nation First @75 Campaign, launched in Manipur on September 17, 2025, successfully concluded today with a grand program at the City Convention Centre in Imphal which was graced by Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla as chief guest, marking 15 days of collective efforts and spirited participation by citizens across the state. The campaign witnessed enthusiastic involvement from all departments of the Government, all districts, and people from all walks of life.

The campaign was organized around the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister for a Viksit Bharat @2047, with events on themes such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Nari Shakti, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Digital India, Fit India Movement, Aspirational Districts, and Make in India. Activities conducted during the fortnight included Swachhata Hi Seva drives, tree plantation, awareness programmes, health and legal camps, cycle rallies, workshops, and training sessions, spreading awareness and inspiring citizens to contribute to nation-building. Under the ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday’ initiative, a special campaign for social audits along with Panchayat Vision Workshop was conducted in 75 selected Gram Panchayats with more than 10,000 villagers participating.

As part of today’s closing function, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Manipur were felicitated for their performance under the Swachh Survekshan. Notably, all 27 ULBs of the State are certified Open Defecation Free (ODF), of which 16 are ODF+ and Jiribam Municipality has achieved ODF++ certification – the highest standard of sanitation under SBM-U 2.0. Additionally, Imphal Municipality has earned a 1-star rating and Jiribam Municipality a 3-star rating under the Garbage-Free Cities protocol. The Governor, in his speech, encouraged all municipalities to strive for the highest 7-star rating, ensuring sustainable and hygienic waste management systems in urban areas.

The Governor also launched B.Sc. Nursing Courses in the Colleges of Nursing at Churachandpur and Thoubal. The State Government has upgraded the GNM Nursing Schools at Churachandpur and Thoubal into B.Sc. Nursing Colleges with 70 seats, supported by the Government of India at a cost of Rs. 6 crore and Rs. 7 crore respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, the Governor emphasized that these 15 days of efforts must be extended into daily life, making the vision of the Prime Minister an integral part of society. The Government of Manipur remains committed to working towards a Viksit Manipur, contributing to the larger goal of a Viksit Bharat@2047.
