Groundbreaking Ceremony of Wungram Christian Institute Campus

Ukhrul: In a historic development, a ground-breaking ceremony of Wungram Christian Institute (WCI) campus was held at Kasom Phungdhar, Old Ukhrul-Talui Road, Ukhrul on Saturday.

Ameikharar Wungmaso Kasomwo unfurled the gate of the institution and ground-breaking ceremony and prayer was led by Rev. Zaklei Kaping, Pastor, Phungyo Baptist Church, laying the foundation for beginning the construction work of WCI Campus.

Sprawling over 19 acres of area, the WCI Campus aims to serve the tribal people in Northeast India through vocational training and discipleship and pastoral leadership training in the days to come.

Wungram Christian Institute is a competency based, gospel-centered vocational institution. It aims to brings knowledge, faith, work and life together at one place.

Seeing the need for career enhancement and remedial programme for the youth in Ukhrul District, Northeast India, Professional Training Institute (PTI) was established in 2007 by Athan and Chanchan. They had served with PTI for five years, which was purely a secular trade school, when they realised that it cannot go on for the long haul without the gospel. They took time to equip themselves with theological training, and now ready to lead the school into a full blown “competency-based, gospel-centered vocational institution” with a greater vision and a new name, Wungram Chritian Institute (WCI).

The ground-breaking ceremony of WCI Campus was attended by Board of Directors of WCI and other dignitaries.

Vision
WCI envisions rural tribal people in Northeast India transformed by the gospel in the knowledge of God’s Word and continue to flourish as God’s image bearers by following Christ in their faith and work.

Mission
Advance the holistic gospel through vocational training and discipleship and through pastoral leadership training to develop the entire persons for spiritual, socio-economic and professional growth.

Core Values
Scripture based, Christ-centered, need-oriented, partnership, integrity, accountability and competency.

Programs
Competency-based and gospel-centered training on carpentry, embroidery, organic farming, culinary art, computer, welding, and language (ESL), modular courses on pastoral leadership based on (Reaching and Teaching International Ministries) RTIM-9marks curriculum.
