Gunman kills one, wounded another in Manipur’s Moreh town

Moreh: An identified gunman fired at a moving car in Manipur’s Moreh town, killing the driver and injuring an occupant

The shooting incident took place at Muslim Nagar (Moreh ward no. 5) located near Indo-Myanmar border pillar no. 79 on Friday night, around 7.30 pm, police added.

The deceased person was identified as Raj Gajmir (19), son of Khenu Prashad of Moreh ward no. 8 while the injured was Md Mubarak (30), son of late Abdul Gani of Sekmaijin of Imphal West district.

According to police, Gajmir died at the spot while Mabarak was shifted to Raj Medicity hospital in Imphal after administering first aid at Moreh hospital. He sustained bullet injuries on his chest and right arm.

Reports said the assailant stopped the car and fired at the driver and the occupant of the car.

Driver Gajmir succumbed to bullet injuries inside the car.

Police said that after the shooting, the gunman hijacked the car along with the lifeless body of Gajmer, only to abandon it along with the dead body near a church at Moreh ward no 2 (Mission Veng).

Police who rushed to the spot recovered the car along with the dead body. They also launched a manhunt operation to nab the culprit. However, there was no report of arresting the culprit.
