Halang Village Celebrates Cultural Fiesta Lueta Phanat (Festival) 2024

Halang Village witnessed a spectacular burst of joy and cultural vibrancy at the Lueta Phanat (seed sowing festival) 2024 celebrations, held under the theme “Nawui otkasā saikora ning-yãng tongtingda sālu. Hāshokme 9:10.” The event, which commenced with the grace of Honourable Dr Lorho S. Pfoze, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha Outer Manipur, as the Chief Guest, and Qr. Christian Home Huileng, MCS, ADC/ADM, Tamenglong, as the Guest of Honour, unfolded as a dazzling showcase of traditions, talent, and unity. The presence of neighbouring villages, including Henry Lungleng, Talui Village Acting Headman, Chinaongam Yangya, Paorei Village Chairman and his Committees, and RN Elizar, Phalee Village Chairman, strengthens the sense of communal solidarity.

The festivities began with a mesmerizing Hokharai performance by Gideon Zingyo, setting the stage for a cultural extravaganza that embraced the heart of Halang Village. Wungmaling Huileng, Halang Village Headman, welcomed the guests with a heartfelt address, expressing gratitude and extending a warm acknowledgement to the distinguished guests. Tokens of appreciation were presented to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and special invitees, accompanied by a memorandum from the HalangAto Tang Development Committee and Halang Youth Council.

The atmosphere was filled with the soulful rendition of “Ili pharasang kahai ngaleili” as the Chief Guest unfurled the flag, symbolizing the official commencement of the celebration. Ato Tang, the recipient of the 2023 Choreography Award, enthralled the audience with a captivating performance, followed by a lively folk dance presented by the Halang Youth Council.

In his address, Chief Guest Dr Pfoze extended warm wishes for a prosperous year ahead to the people of Halang. He underscored the vital importance of nurturing local talent and utilizing resources for comprehensive development. Dr Pfoze highlighted ongoing initiatives in Hampai development, including design studios focusing on music, weaving, and jewellery. Grateful for the community’s unwavering support, he called for continued collaboration in his mission to serve the people.

Guest of Honour, Christian Home Huileng, shared insights into the cultural and communal significance of Lueta Phanat, emphasizing the celebration’s role in preserving cherished traditions and values within the community.

Symbolizing a connection to the land and its fertility, the Headman performed the Machi Katun, marking the commencement of ploughing and sowing. Prayers were offered for abundant rain and blessings for a prosperous 2024.
