Ukhrul: Nagaland’s healthcare system is facing a major setback, as key hospitals in the state, including CIHSR (Chumoukedima), Eden Medical Centre, Faith Hospital (Dimapur), Lenjem Hospital (Mokokchung), and Panacea Nursing Home (Wokha), have suspended treatment services due to unpaid dues. The suspension of services has raised alarms over the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and its associated programs, including AB-PMJAY.

The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has strongly criticized the ruling PDA government, accusing it of systemic inefficiency and negligence in managing these vital health insurance programs. Despite a monthly deduction of ₹400 from the salaries of over 1.2 lakh government employees, excluding pensioners, the promised healthcare benefits under CMHIS remain unfulfilled. The RPP has expressed its concerns over the collapse of services, highlighting that hospitals are being forced to halt treatments due to outstanding payments.

The CMHIS and AB-PMJAY programs were designed to provide cashless healthcare to eligible beneficiaries, including government employees, pensioners, and the general public. However, with hospitals suspending services, many beneficiaries are left without essential medical care. The RPP has accused the government of betraying the public trust and violating its commitment to provide accessible healthcare.

The RPP has also raised questions about the allocation of funds, pointing to the money deducted from employees’ salaries. The party has demanded that the government clarify where the funds are going and why the outstanding dues to hospitals have not been settled. The ongoing crisis has sparked calls for transparency and urgent action from the government to restore the effectiveness of the health insurance system.

As the situation worsens, the RPP has urged both the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary to publicly address the issues and take responsibility for the failures of the health insurance program. The party has warned that if the PDA government does not take immediate corrective action, the healthcare crisis in the state could escalate further.
The people of Nagaland, the RPP stated, deserve transparency, accountability, and urgent reforms to restore confidence in the state’s healthcare system.
