Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh reiterated the State Government of Manipur’s stand to identify “illegal migrants” and drive them out of the State. The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering at the observation of Kargil Vijay held today at the Manipur Secretariat (South Block) Conference Hall in Imphal.

Saying that the State Government would strongly stand against the demand for separate administration, N. Biren stated that the current tension prevailing in the State is between the Government and the “elements who want to disturb the peaceful co-existence” in the State. He also said that tension erupted as the State Government started acting against drug cartels, adding that the State Government is not against the “Kuki community who have been residing together in the State since a long time”.

The Chief Minister then strongly condemned the “use of abusive words against him in a solidarity rally held in Mizoram”, which was also participated by Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga. Biren called it a “barbaric” act. He then urged  Zoramthanga not to interfere in the internal matters of “other’s State”. Biren also condemned the resolution taken by the European Parliament regarding the crisis in Manipur and portraying it as a clash between the Hindus and Christians, “without knowing the ground reality”.

Maintaining that the State Government has been observing all incidents happening in the State, he warned against those elements who are trying to distort the integrity of Manipur. He stated that the Government would not succumb to any threat.
