IMPHAL: Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam today informed the Manipur Legislative Assembly today that the resettlement and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) will be completed once the law and order situation in the state improves.
He was responding to a question raised by Congress MLA, Kangujam Ranjit Singh, regarding the government’s plans for compensating IDPs for the loss of their movable assets during the unprecedented crisis.
Govindas Konthoujam reiterated the government’s dedication to the welfare of the affected citizens by the unprecedented crisis. He further informed the House that no compensation has been provided to the IDPs for the losses of movable assets to date. However, the Home Minister assured the House, while replying to the supplementary question seeking a stipulated time period for providing compensation for the losses of the movable assets of IDPs, that the government would look into the matter of providing compensation after the resettlement and rehabilitation of IDPs are completed.
