Imported sanitizers worth Rs 1.66 crore seized: Manipur

UT News Service | Aug 12: Troops of Assam Rifles arrested 3 persons and seized consignment of foreign-made sanitizers estimated to be worth Rs 1.66 crore August 9, at around 2:00 pm traveling from Moreh to Imphal at the Khudengthabi check post in Manipur.

The troops also recovered 64 cartons of ‘Alcohol Spray’, 1 carton of fish feed, and hooks from the vehicle, which was worth Rs 7.68 lakh along with 589 carton boxes of foreign-made sanitizers. According to reports, the Tata truck was driven by one Laishram Inao Singh, and the Tata DI was driven by one Konjengbam Ranjan Meetei along with Maibam Herojit Meitei.

Estimated cost of the total items seized was around Rs 1.74 crore. Meanwhile, the arrested persons have been handed over to the Customs Department in Imphal along with the recovered items for further investigations.
