NEW DELHI, AUG 11 (SHABD): India on Tuesday reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh is an inalienable and integral part of the country and that nothing can change this “indisputable reality”.
Briefing the media in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India has consistently emphasised in discussions with China that matters relating to the border areas are of the utmost seriousness.
He said maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border areas remains of paramount importance to India.

Jaiswal said the position was also reiterated at the recently held 36th Meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China border affairs. During the meeting, the two sides held frank discussions and reviewed the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The Indian side again underlined that maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border areas is essential for the overall development of bilateral relations.
Both sides agreed to continue using existing diplomatic and military channels, including the WMCC, local commander-level meetings and other agreed mechanisms, to address outstanding issues and prevent misunderstandings and miscalculations along the LAC.
Replying to another query, Jaiswal highlighted what he described as human rights violations being committed in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of Pakistan. He called upon the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for what he termed its “misdeeds, abuses and gross violations of human rights”.
On the defence pact involving Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye, the spokesperson said India continues to closely follow developments in the West Asia conflict.
Regarding the agreement, he said New Delhi is examining its implications from the perspective of India’s national security as well as regional peace and stability. He added that India remains fully committed to safeguarding its national interests and would take all necessary measures in this regard.

On National Security Adviser Ajit Doval’s meeting with US Ambassador Sergio Gor, Jaiswal said the two met on both Monday and Tuesday. He said the meetings provided an opportunity to discuss the comprehensive global strategic partnership between India and the United States.
He added that both sides remain committed to further strengthening bilateral ties in areas including trade, defence, energy security, critical minerals and other sectors.
On Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi’s meeting with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Jaiswal said India has extended an invitation for a bilateral visit as well as to attend the BRICS outreach session to be held in New Delhi.
