Churches in Mizoram rally against FCRA Amendment Bill

AIZAWL, AUG 11 (SHABD): The Council of Churches in Mizoram (CCM) on Tuesday organised a mass rally in Aizawl to protest against the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, which has drawn strong opposition from church bodies and civil society organisations in the state.

The rally began from two points, Sikulpuikawn and Zarkawt, with participants marching towards Vanapa Hall, where a large gathering assembled.

A large number of people, including members and supporters of various churches, took part in the protest.

The CCM had earlier expressed concern over the proposed legislation, particularly its potential impact on churches and other organisations receiving foreign contributions for religious, social and charitable activities.
