Imphal, Aug 29: In a befitting tribute to encourage sports at grassroot level and uplift the community in line with Nation’s Khelo India and Fit India Movement, the Indian Army under Red Shield Division celebrated the National Sports Day event in a grand manner at Khurkul Village in Imphal West, Manipur on 29 August 2024.
Organized as part of Operation Sadhbhavana, the event included a thrilling men’s volleyball match between Sardar Patel High school & Khurkul Model Standard School whereas the girls team partcipated in a exciting badminton contest. To increase bonhomie and camaraderie, the Indian Army team and the Khurkul village team played a electrifying friendly volleyball match.

Post the match, while the Indian Army felicitated the participants, organizers and the winners of the event for their splendid performance, the distribution of large quantity of variety of sporting gears by the Indian Army was received with a wide applause from the large spectators, which proved a blessing in disguise for the local community.
The students and the local community of Khurkul village expressed their deep gratitude towards Indian Army for immensely contributing to uplift the sporting infrastructure of the village as well as for their dedicated service to the nation.
