Indian Army Rescues Meitei Individual from Khumnangjang

Ukhrul, Mar 7: In a swift and timely operation, Indian Army personnel successfully rescued a Meitei individual who inadvertently entered a buffer zone near Khumnangjang today.

At approximately 1610 hours, Army personnel stationed in the area observed a civilian moving into the security zone from the Khurkul side. Given the region’s sensitivity and the proximity of a Kuki village, a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) was immediately mobilized to ensure the individual’s safety.

 The QRT successfully secured the individual and moved him to a safe location. He was later identified as a resident of Khurkul village. It was found that he was in an intoxicated state at the time of the incident.

Following the rescue, he was safely handed over to the police outpost at Kanto Sabal. Subsequently, he is being reunited with his family in the presence of police representatives.

The Indian Army’s swift response and professionalism ensured the individual’s safety, preventing any potential escalation in the area. This incident stands as a testament to the Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region while safeguarding civilians.
