IRB Commandos put behind bars for assaulting Doctors in Imphal

Dr. K Soreingam, Asst Professor, JNIMS and his wife Dr. K Lumthing RV, Gyenaecologist, CMC hospital were reportedly assaulted by IRB commandos on the night of Thursday around 8:15 pm while they were returning home from emergency operation at CMC Hospital.

The duo doctors were allegedly physically assaulted by the CDOs at Luwangsangbam in front of CM residence.

An FIR in this connection was filed at Heingang Police Station made available by Dr. Lumthing said, one CDO, CK Mangnag identified by Dr. Lumthing joined by his colleagues slapped him twice and hit him with AK 47 assault rifle butt and even loaded the gun saying, “Do you want to die”? in Manipuri language, according to Dr. Lumthing’s written statement.

The CDOs, reportedly from 8th India Reserve Battalion (CDO), Manipur were said to be under the influence of intoxication, the statement said.

According to a report in Ekhon, the IRB commandos have been arrested through the intervention of chief minister and others and put behind bars for further investigation.
