Joint Raid to be Conducted for Checking Power Theft

Dimapur: The state level special team for checking power theft, improvement of revenue collection and ensuring effective management of power system in Dimapur district, had a meeting with officers of power department and representatives of district administration and district police in connection with special drive for disconnection for non-payment of electricity bills and to check the menace of power theft/ unlawful or illegal tapping of power lines on 18th October at SE power office, Nagarjan, Dimapur.

In the meeting, it was decided that besides regular raids and disconnection drives conducted by department as a special drive, joint raids would be conducted along with district administration and police for illegal power tapping/ power theft and disconnection drive for non-payment of electricity bills.

In this connection, the team leader Joint Secretary, Power, Sara S Jamir, NCS has appealed to all the village authorities, GBs, Colony leaders and general public to extend their support in checking the menace of power theft in their wards, Colony and villages. She cited Power theft as one reasons for overloading of transformers resulting in transformer failures. Jamir was optimistic that with the support of the public, the menace of power theft could be checked and monitored which would ultimately improve stability of power supply in Dimapur.
