The joint women organization in Moreh today held Sit-in-Protest against the constant protest taken out by some valley-based CSOs over the Court verdict on former chairman of ADC Chandel Lhukhosei Zou.

Women organizations in Moreh town – Kha NoNongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Muslim Women Development Association, Gorkha Mahila Sewa Samiti, Kuki Women Union & Human Rights took part in the Sit-in-Protest.

Strongly condemning the demand made by some valley based CSOs to re-arrest Lhukhosei Zou, the joint women organization in Moreh termed it as an act instigated by vested interest.

While stating that Lhukhosei Zou was already proven innocent by Court the women bodies asked valley-based CSOs to stop harassing and targeting Lhukhosei Zou. “Valley based CSOs and Public should not take the law in their own hands and stop harrassing Shri Lhukhosei Zou just by mere instigation by an individual or element, ” it stated.

The joint body also stated “the CSOs of Moreh appreciate highly appreciate Shri N Biren led Government on War Against Drugs. We always support Government. But now the matter turns into Th Brinda’s War Against Shri Lhukhosei Zou”.

The joint women organization stated ” an information was received that drugs were hidden at Mantripukhri Imphal and that NAB personnel led by Th. Brinda were to arrest the drugs, On knowing that Police personnels were to arrest the drugs, the owner Mr Chinliankhup sent Mr Thangminlun, the driver of the then ADC Chairman to hide the drugs to avoid arrest. After some quantity were seized from elsewhere and Mr Thangminlun Zou was arrested, he disclosed that he hid the drugs in his room within the ADC Chairman’s Official Campus.”

“Taking chance of the incident, Shri Lhukhosei Zou was arrested without any fault of his.”

“While Shri Lhukhosei Zou was in Lock-up, just when it is about to be six months, a huge amount of Money was demanded so that he is not chargesheeted. Whereas, as Shri Lhukhosei Zou did not pay bribe, so false IO report was framed against him and he was chargesheeted without any valid proof and sent to jail.”

It also stated “when the Court was deciding the Bail Plea of Shri Lhukhosei Zou, Th. Brinda stormed the Court and threaten the Judge behaving like she is the dictator As such, the court was adjourned. Th Brinda even asked for huge amount of money to release him which Shri Lhukhosei Zou refused to pay as he is innocent.”

“As the Judge fear to tackle the case, she surrendered and then a neutral Judge from High Court was sent to decide the case who found that Shri Lhukhosei Zou was innocent and then acquit him thereafter.”

The joint Women Organization further stated “the Kuki Customary Court had also proved that Shri Lhukhosei Zou was innocent and that the drugs belong to Shri Chinliankhup Zou who had been hiding till today. The family members of Shri Chinliankhup Zou had also approached Shr Lhukhosei Zou’s family on 28th December 2019 as per Kuki Customary to seek apology for their fault.”
