Ukhrul, September 4: The Joy Teacher Education Foundation (JTEF) officially opened its doors on 2 September 2025 at its office in Phungreitang West, Ukhrul District, Manipur, marking a significant milestone in educator training and community development in the region. It has been registered under Section 7(1) of the Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989 (Manipur Act 1 of 1990), bearing Registration No. 48/UD/SR/2025. The foundation was inaugurated by Moses Shaiza, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Pettigrew College, Ukhrul. He has authored two fiction prose works for the Tangkhul undergraduate MIL syllabus: “Karkao eina Yarkao” and “Khongkhaikhawuivang.”
JTEF outlined four main focus areas: teachers, vocational training, students, and elders. Under the teachers pillar, the foundation aims to empower educators through ongoing professional development and training programs and to promote innovative and inclusive teaching methodologies to boost student engagement.
In vocational training, JTEF seeks to equip individuals with practical, market-relevant skills to enhance employability and entrepreneurship, and to support skill development among underprivileged communities, with particular emphasis on women and youth. For Students, JTEF intends to provide access to quality educational resources and mentorship for academic and personal growth, foster creativity, critical thinking, and leadership through experiential learning opportunities, and offer workshops and learning tools to support equitable education.

The elders pillar focuses on promoting lifelong learning and medical support for senior citizens, organizing community- based training to encourage active aging, and supporting intergenerational learning and the sharing of knowledge and wisdom.
In addition to outlining its aims, JTEF announced its leadership structure. Joymi Zimik, President and Director, is a dedicated educator with more than a decade of teaching experience. She is actively involved in academic research, having presented papers at national and international seminars, focusing on topics such as culture, social growth, and the influence of social media on adolescents.

She has also conducted teacher orientation programs and career guidance sessions across various schools in Manipur, demonstrating her commitment to educational development.
