The Joy Teacher Education Foundation successfully conducted its inaugural one-day Teacher Training Programme focused on ‘Holistic Teaching in Science and Mathematics’ at its premises in Phungreitang West on September 8, 2025. The event gathered enthusiastic educators from various local institutions, aiming to enhance their teaching methodologies through integrated and hands-on approaches.
Under the insightful guidance of Dr. Horthing V. Zimik, Scientist at CSIR-NIO and Assistant Professor at AcSIR, the training provided teachers with innovative strategies to foster equity-focused pedagogies in their classrooms. Dr. Zimik, who also serves as the General Secretary of the Tangkhul Geoscience Forum and Advisor of JTEF, emphasized the importance of holistic education in preparing students for real-world challenges in the age of Artificial Intelligence. The program was hosted by Somichon Khangrah, a Research Scholar at IIT Roorkee, and featured interactive sessions that encouraged teachers to explore practical lesson ideas and engage in collaborative planning.

Participants hailed from various schools, including Ukhrul Central School, Happy Trails Pre School, Mangazan Kids Learning Centre, Sirarakhong Model English School, Learner’s Kingdom Academy, Elim School, Simple Solution School, and Ukhrul Public School. This diverse representation underscored a collective commitment to improving educational standards in the region. The training aimed not only to enhance pedagogical skills but also to provide a platform for networking among educators. This training is a step toward equipping our teachers with the necessary tools to inspire and motivate their students. The event was graced by the presence of Joymi Zimik, President and Director of JTEF; Jasingla Khaleng, Secretary of JTEF; Sirawung Raiping, Member of JTEF; S. Raiping, Convenor of UDHAHCoF; and Suisa Chawung, MFS, DFO (retired), among others.
