Ex-Dy CM Yumnam Joykumar Slams N. Biren Singh for Misusing P.A. Sangma’s Name

Imphal, April 2: Former Deputy Chief Minister and ex-director General of Police (DGP) of Manipur, Yumnam Joykumar, has attacked former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, accusing the latter of misusing the late P.A. Sangma’s name in an attempt to deflect responsibility for the ongoing Manipur crisis.

In a social media post, Joykumar dismissed Biren Singh’s claims about the National People’s Party (NPP) and the ethnic tensions, calling them “misleading” and “uninformed.”

Joykumar criticised the former Chief Minister of Manipur for linking an old video of P.A. Sangma to the present-day conflict, insisting it was irrelevant and a misguided attempt to obscure his (Biren) own administration’s failings.

Joykumar also mentioned Biren Singh’s stance on the Inner Line Permit (ILP), asserting that it was the NPP, not the BJP-led government, that played a pivotal role in securing the ILP for Manipur.

Meanwhile, in a call for unity, Joykumar supported NPP president Conrad Sangma’s emphasis on peace and reconciliation, urging all leaders to focus on stabilising Manipur rather than engaging in blame games.
