IMPHAL/UKHRUL: BJP Manipur Pradesh General Secretary K. Sarat Kumar has lodged a police complaint seeking registration of an FIR against former Tamenglong Assembly Constituency MLA Samuel Jendai, Duigailong Village Authority Chairman Namsulung Gonmei alias A.G. Namsulung, President of the INC Tamenglong District, and others over alleged inflammatory and communal remarks.

Speaking to reporters at Thambal Shanglen in Imphal on Monday, Sarat alleged that Samuel Jendai and Namsulung Gonmei made objectionable remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other national leaders during a political campaign programme held at Rangkhung Village Part-I in Noney district on September 16.
Sarat alleged that the statements made during the programme were inflammatory and communal in nature and had the potential to disturb public peace and create divisions among communities.
Condemning the alleged remarks, the BJP leader said political differences should not be used as a means to create divisions in society or undermine public harmony. He called for strict legal action against those responsible.
Sarat further stated that he had submitted video evidence of the alleged remarks along with his complaint at Imphal Police Station and urged the police to register an FIR and investigate the matter.

The complaint has sought action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and other applicable laws.
The BJP leader reiterated that public discourse, particularly during political campaigns, should not cross the line into language that could potentially disturb communal harmony and public order.
