UKHRUL: A Liangmai Naga civilian was reportedly killed after unidentified armed assailants attacked him along the Upper Nkou–Tamei road in Tamenglong district on Monday at around 10:30 am, according to local sources.
The deceased, who sources said was a minor, has been identified as Nk. Wiphenbou, son of Nk. Maihinlakbou of Nkou Naga village.
The incident reportedly occurred at Upper Nkou, which falls under the Tamei area of Tamenglong district.
Local sources have alleged that Kuki militants were responsible for the attack.

The reported killing comes amid heightened tensions and a series of violent incidents involving Naga and Kuki communities in parts of Tamenglong, Kangpokpi and adjoining areas in recent weeks.
It may be noted that the Imphal–Tamenglong (IT) Road corridor and neighbouring areas have witnessed numerous attacks on Liangmai Naga villages in Kangpokpi, while there have also been reports of attacks on Kuki village settlements along the Noney–Tamenglong border areas.
