Kamjong: CM N Biren Inaugurates Institute Building for DIET at Kasom Khullen

Imphal (DIPR): Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today inaugurated the Institute Building of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Kasom Khullen, Kamjong District through video conferencing from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

The inauguration programme was organised by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), Government of Manipur.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh maintained that the State Government had always been working for the welfare of its people. He continued that bringing inclusive development would strengthen the relationship among people living in different corners of the State.

The Chief Minister mentioned that the Government had introduced the Go to Hills Mission to bridge the developmental gap across different parts of the State, soon after the formation of his Government in March, 2017. After knowing the differences in development, governance had been brought at people’s doorstep through the Go to Villages Mission. As such, the required facilities had been brought through various welfare schemes.

Regarding the newly inaugurated DIET building, N. Biren informed that the institute building had been constructed at a cost of around Rs. 5.61 crore. He continued that the government had been giving priority in developing education sector, although the State has been facing financial constraints in development works. Further, speaking on the STAR Education programme of the State Government, he informed that much improvement could be seen among teachers who underwent training on teaching methods under the said programme.

The Chief Minister also informed that the Government would come up with health facilities equipped with modernised machines in different hill districts.

Mentioning the improvement of road condition from Imphal to Kasom Khullen, the travelling hour has been cut to around one and half hour from earlier 7 to 8 hours. He sought support of the public in carrying out development works.

He further maintained that the State Government had been working to protect the indigenous people of the State and that the Government is not against anyone or any community.

The Chief Minister expressed regret for not being able to personally attend the inauguration programme organised at Kasom Khullen, due to the current law and order situation in the State. He asked the officials to use the building properly with proper maintenance, adding that he would look into matter regarding shortages in staff and other facilities in various DIET across the State.

Education Minister Th. Basanta Kumar, while speaking on the occasion, informed that establishment of one DIET each in every district of the State has been approved. He continued that 9 DIETs in different districts are functional as of now and institute buildings of 4 DIETs had been constructed. Appreciating the Chief Minister for giving much priority in education sector, he sought attention of the Chief Minister for filling up the vacant posts in DIETs in different districts and to make them functional.

MLA of Phungyar AC Leishiyo Keishing, MLA of Langthabal AC Karam Shyam, MLA of Patsoi AC Sapam Kunjakeswor, Commissioner, Education (S) H. Gyan Prakash and officials of SCERT attended the programme among others.

Deputy Commissioner, Kamjong District Rangnai Rang Peter, officials of District Administration, Kamgjong attended the programme from Kamjong District.
