Kamjong District Football Association (KDFA) Formed, First District League Held

Kamjong: The very first Kamjong District League under the aegis of the newly formed Kamjong District Football Association (KDFA), concluded on October 30 with Phungyar FC as the champions of the first ever football league in the district.

KDFA, established in January 25, 2021 is a registered football association with the All Manipur Football Association. It aims to provide platform for aspiring footballers to make their voices heard, sway young people away from drugs to sports and pave the way to a bright footballing career for the youths of Kamjong district in particular and youths of the Tangkhul community in general.

In a statement from KDFA it stated that the association which started as an idea was pioneered by like-minded former and current footballers of Kamjong district. Despite facing several hardships in their journey to become an association it managed to fulfill various engagements in Grass Root level football camp, AMFA CAT-5 referee course and the successful completion of the 1st Kamjong District League in Kamjong district headquarters.

“The credit for the successful culmination of the 1st KDL goes to the well-wishers, the townsfolk, the 8 participating teams viz, Kamjong FC, Kamjong United FC, Phungyar FC, Kamo SC, Kangpat SC, Thoyee FC, Chassad YC and Oriental FC, the match officials, the ball boys,” the statement added.

The newly formed football association also expressed its immense gratitude to the two chief guests Leishiyo Keishing, MLA 43-Phungyar A/C cum HAC Chairman, Manipur and Phulen Meitei, Director, Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur for gracing the opening and closing ceremony respectively and everyone who took part in both the events.

A special thanks was given to Mathanmi Hungyo, Director RREA, Co-founder, Teach for Northeast and Administrative Advisor for providing KDFA with sports equipment and financial aids.
