UKHRUL: The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha, a government initiative to transform India into a developed nation by 2047, was held at Somrei village in Kamjong district, Manipur, today. Organized by the District Administration, Kamjong, the event also commemorates prime minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service.

The programme commenced with a march led by Kamjong deputy commissioner LN Kashung and former ADC member Thotasheng Shanglai, followed by the singing of Vande Mataram and the administration of a pledge.
43-Phungyar MLA Leishiyo Keishing, addressing the gathering as chief guest, emphasized the importance of collective participation for national development. He urged citizens not to rely solely on the government, but to take an active role in developmental activities, highlighting the value of self-help groups and community-driven efforts.

During the event, beneficiaries received various government benefits, including ration cards, health and pension cards, wheelchairs, and horticultural seeds. Specifically, seven beneficiaries received ration cards under the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department; five received wheelchairs; and 11 each received horticultural seeds and old-age pension benefits through the District Social Welfare Office.
The programme also featured a virtual address by prime minister Modi and prize distribution to winners of drawing and essay competitions held as part of the event.
