The joint committee of the NSUC and JBA stated that recent concerns regarding fire hazards in congested market areas, shops, kitchens, storage rooms, electrical installations, and other commercial spaces made it necessary for every establishment to maintain minimum fire-safety preparedness.
Therefore, the joint committee had directed that every commercial establishment shall compulsorily install at least one functional and properly maintained fire extinguisher suitable for the nature of its business and possible fire risk.
They also directed that establishments dealing with cooking gas, food preparation, fuel, electrical appliances, generators, welding, vehicle repair, chemicals, or highly inflammable materials must maintain suitable additional fire-safety equipment.
