KANGPOKPI, SEP 25: The Elmun Council, the governing body representing the Sitlhou, Lhouvum, Singsit and Singson clans, held a traditional blessing ceremony, known as Maicham, for Daniel Kipgen at Kholmunlen village in Sadar Hills on Thursday.
Kipgen, president of BJYM Sadar Hills and an intending candidate for the 51-Saitu (ST) Assembly Constituency, received blessings and prayers from members of his maternal family, elders and well-wishers during the ceremony.
The programme was attended by leaders and chiefs of the Elmun Council, pastors, elders, members of Kipgen’s family, members of the Central Working Committee of Team Saitu Shining and other well-wishers.

Rev. Letkam Elmun led the programme, while Pu Tonglen Elmun, speaker of the Elmun Council, served as the compere. Pu Lamminlun Elmun, general secretary of the council, served as the recording secretary.
An exhortation and blessing message was delivered by Pu Paojagin Elmun, president of the Elmun Council General Headquarters. Pi Nemboi, wife of late Thangkolen Elmun Jampipa, chief of Elmun, also offered her blessings.
Rev. Letkam Elmun later offered a thanksgiving prayer, seeking God’s guidance and blessings for Kipgen.
As part of the traditional Thadou blessing ceremony, the Elmun Council presented Kipgen with a traditional gong and Samal, the hind leg of the sacrificed animal, as symbolic blessings.

The programme concluded with a fellowship feast hosted by the maternal family and the Elmun Council.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Pu Mangseh Elmun, vice-president of the Elmun Council.
