Kangpokpi, September 3: The 28th Separation Day was observed on Tuesday evening at the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) administrative office in Kanggui, under the motto “You sacrifice your today for our tomorrow.”
The program, held at 6 PM, was compered by Lamminlun Singsit, CoTU’s joint secretary, and began with an opening prayer by Rev. Pastor Jangkhogin Chongloi. A welcome address was delivered by Jangkholim Khongsai, secretary of CoTU.

In his condolence and keynote address, CoTU chairman Lunthang Haokip paid homage to those who had made sacrifices “for the cause” and urged the community to uphold their legacy. His remarks were followed by a minute of silence and a candlelight tribute to the martyrs. Additional prayers were offered by Rev. Satminthang, secretary of the Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship.

To mark the occasion, a district-wide shutdown was observed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., during which all schools, colleges, and institutions remained closed. Commemorations took place not only in Kangpokpi town but also across Gamgiphai to Taphou, Motbung, Saparmeina, Leikop, Keithelmanbi, Hengbung, Leimakhong, South West, Saikul, Bungpi, Phailengmol, and Tuilang areas.
The observance concluded peacefully, in a spirit of solemn remembrance and unity.
