KANGPOKPI, NOV 18: The Khelo India Football Tournament 2025 launched today in South Changoubung with a vibrant opening ceremony, highlighting a national push to nurture young athletic talent.
Organized by the 112 BN CRPF in collaboration with the South Changoubung Youth Club (SCYC) and supported by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the five-day event features 16 teams in a high-stakes knockout competition running from November 17 to 21.
Rajesh Kumar, DIG of Kangpokpi Range, CRPF, inaugurated the tournament as chief guest. After being welcomed with traditional shawls, he inspected the teams and officially started the event by kicking the first ball to roaring crowd applause.

The champion will receive a trophy, Rs. 25,000, and medals, with the runners-up earning Rs. 15,000. Individual awards will be announced at the November 21 closing ceremony, which will also feature cultural performances.
DIG Kumar emphasized that the Khelo India initiative is key to reviving India’s sporting culture. “Sports remain a powerful instrument for unity, discipline, and peace,” he stated, praising the collaborative effort to bring this platform to Kangpokpi.
