Khongnangthaba University Celebrates 3rd Foundation Day with Grand Event

Imphal: Khongnangthaba University celebrates its 3rd Foundation Day on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Khongnangthaba University campus located in Khurai Konam Leikai, Paoanm Leirak, Imphal East district. The event was marked by a series of distinguished speakers and guests, and aims to reflect on the university’s past achievements, celebrate its present successes, and envision a future filled with academic excellence and growth.

The program commences with a welcome address by Dr. P. Jugesghor Singh, Deputy Controller of Examinations at Khongnangthaba University, followed by a keynote address from Dr. Atom Sunil Singh, Registrar of the university. The guests of honour for the event include Prof. Gurusamy Mariappan from St Mary College of Pharmacy, Secunderabad, Prof. Nilimanka Das, Professor at the Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Tripura, Dr. Anindam Chaudhuri, Scientist (Agriculture) & Corporate Advisor, and Avinash Salunke, Founder of Pestosys LLP and Mentor at Barefooters School.

The chief guest for the occasion is Prof. N. Joykumar Singh, vice-chancellor of Khongnangthaba University, and the President of the event is Dr. A. Guneshwor Sharma, Dean and Director of AYUSH at Khongnangthaba University. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. M. Sharmila Devi, Faculty in the Zoology Department.

In his Keynote Address, Dr. Atom Sunil Singh reflects on the past history of Khongnangthaba University and highlighted the university’s emergence as the first private university under the Manipur Private University Act of 2021 and Recognised under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956, the university stands empowered to confer degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act of 1956. He emphasized the institution’s commitment to preserving traditional knowledge, as evidenced by its registration under the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) and inclusion in the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Envisioning the future, Dr. Atom Sunil Singh announced the university’s application for recognition as an Examination Body by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). These endeavours align with Khongnangthaba University’s commitment to providing quality education and achieving academic excellence. Plans for further construction and accreditation from esteemed bodies like the Khongnangthaba University is set to apply for UGC 12(b) status and accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and membership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) were also unveiled.

The chief guest, prof. N. Joykumar Singh, vice-chancellor, praised the university’s capabilities and highlighted its presence on different campuses across the state. The president, Dr. A. Guneshwor Sharma, dean and director of AYUSH, shared insights into the future of Khongnangthaba University and expressed gratitude to the distinguished delegates for their presence.

On the occasion of its 3rd Foundation Day celebration on Friday, 23rd February 2024, Khongnangthaba University, a pioneering institution committed to academic excellence, marked the day with a significant milestone – the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Barefooter School, Pune. The MoU aims to offer short-term job-oriented courses and startup training, enhancing the employability and entrepreneurial skills of the youth in Manipur. The collaboration intends to contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the region.
