Kohima Celebrates International Day of Peace with Inspiring Messages and Performances

Kohima, Sept 21: The International Day of Peace was celebrated with a vibrant event at Rivenburge Chapel Hall, Baptist College, where Global Ambassador of MasterPeace COOLeaders, Imnainla Jamir inspired attendees through her speech and performance. Organized by the IQAC of Baptist College in collaboration with MasterPeace Nagaland, the celebration focused on “Cultivating a Culture of Peace.” The Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) served as an event partner.

In her speech, Imnainla highlighted that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace. As a global ambassador for the COOLeaders program of MasterPeace, she emphasized the importance of fostering peace through dialogue and co-creation. She encouraged everyone to recognize their ability to be leaders, stating that small, positive changes in individual lives can have a significant impact on society and the planet. Imnainla also stressed the need to live in harmony with nature and reminded the youth that they hold the power to shape a better world.

Rev. Fr. Charles D. Douza, Principal of St. Paul School, Phesama, delivered the keynote address on the International Day of Peace. He stated that peace is the resolution of conflicts, requiring the absence of violence and harmony within ourselves and in our interactions. It starts internally, through a conscious effort to eliminate prejudice, ill will, and violence while embracing gratitude, forgiveness, and selflessness.

The program was chaired by Dr. Sentinaro, Coordinator of the IQAC, Baptist College, Kohima, while Tamreimung Chüsi, Chaplain of Baptist College, invoked God’s blessing. Narola Chuba, Vice Principal of Baptist College, Kohima, delivered the welcome note. Bushem Lam and Gloria Yimchunger enthralled the gathering with a special song, and Enünü Sale, Assistant Coordinator of the IQAC, Baptist College, delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a powerful call for unity in the pursuit of peace.
