Kohima extends Total lockdown till 7 August

UT News Service | Kohima, July 31: The Total lockdown of the Kohima Municipal Area under Kohima Sadar Jurisdiction effective July 25 till July 31 has been extended effective August 1 to August 7. The decision on Total lockdown was decided by the District Task Force (DTF) Kohima emergency meeting on July 31, 2020.

The extension of lockdown primarily being the rapid surging number of Covid-19 Positive cases in the District outside the Quarantine Centre. All provisions Total lockdown order of July 23 will be in force.

The order from the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DTF further added for identifying respective shops in their Ward/Colony/Village Panchayats in order to facilitate the hardships faced by locals in availing essential commodities during the strict lockdown, including online services.

The order appealed the public to follow all safety measures in wearing mask and washing of hands and maintaing social distance for personal and public safety.

Failure to comply with the order, it said will invite penal actions as per Disaster Management Act 2005, or a legal action under Section 188 and other provisions where applicable.
