Koijam Radhashyam sworn in as Manipur Chief Information Commissioner

Imphal: Koijam Radhashyam has been sworn in as the new State Chief Information Commissioner of the Manipur Information Commission.

The oath of office was administered by Governor Anushuiya Uikey during a solemn ceremony held at the Durbar hall of Raj Bhawan on Saturday.

Koijam Radhashyam had previously served as the Special Secretary Home of the Manipur government. The new State Chief Information Commissioner pledged to carry out his duties in the best interests of public and to safeguard the rights of citizens. He noted that while some information can be obtained under the RTI Act, there are certain sensitive pieces of information that cannot be made public.

Speaking on the sidelines, Chief Minister N Biren expressed the government’s commitment to filling vacant positions within the state government and improving relations with the public by addressing their concerns. He emphasized that the government will ensure that people can exercise various rights enshrined in the constitution, including those under the RTI Act. He also assured that all vacant positions in the State Information Commission would be filled.
