Ukhrul, Jan 25: The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO-GHQ) has strongly condemned a viral article titled “Hello Neighbour Naga,” allegedly authored by one St. Ginth Haokip, and has appealed to “fellow hill tribal communities” not to be swayed by it.
Denouncing the viral article as “disturbing” and “hate-mongering,” the KSO GHQ stated that it could incite a communal flare-up between the two communities and might have fueled anger and distress among many Nagas who have read it. It also stated that the article appears to have been written to cause conflict between the two communities.

The KSO stated that initially, it did not take the article seriously, assuming it to be the work of a vested individual writing a petty piece. However, after thorough deliberation and considering the current conflict prevailing in the state, the KSO found it necessary to investigate the intention behind such an article that has gone viral on social media platforms at a time when the state is in a war-like situation.
As a result, it had alerted all its branches across the country to look for and identify the person named St.Ginth Haokip, the alleged author of the article, but could not trace any individual by that name associated with the Kuki-Zo community.
The student body strongly condemned the person or group responsible for writing the “disturbing” and “hate-mongering” article which it said appears to have been written with the intent to incite a communal flare-up between the hill tribal Christian groups, ie the Kukis and Nagas. The individual involved deliberately used the surname “Haokip” a widely known Kuki clan name to mislead readers into identifying the writer as a Kuki and, consequently, to place blame on the Kuki community, it said. It has also considered lodging a First Information Report (FIR) if needed.

In the statement, the KSO appealed to its fellow hill tribal communities to be vigilant and not be swayed by such “dubious” and “provocative propaganda”. This may not be the last attempt to incite communal tensions between the Kukis and Nagas. In such a time, mutual trust, understanding, and frequent communication are paramount to maintaining cordial relations between our hill tribal Christian communities, the student body said.
